According to the results of research conducted by the Baltic Energy Conversation Agency (BAPE), production of this fuel in 2013 amounted to over 650 thousand tons and in 2015 it already amounted to over 900 thousand tones. According to the results of a report of the European Biomass Association AEMBIOM, Statistical Report 2016, Poland does not differ from other countries of Western Europe in this respect, being in the top ten biggest manufacturers of this fuel for a couple of years now, among 28 countries of Europe after Austria, (production at a level of 1.0 million tons in 2015.), Estonia (production at a level of 1.3 million tons in 2015), Latvia (production at a level of 1.5 million tons in 2015), Sweden (production at a level of 1.7 million tons in 2015) and Germany (production at a level of 2.0 million tons in 2015).
